    Default did airbox mod today

as above i went and did airbox mod on my v6 turbo this afternoon,i went for three inch hole as opposed to two inch hole that porkballs did,i trimmed back the ribs on inside and bonded some mesh onto hole for some sort of filtration lol, tidied it up a wee bit witb stanley knife and a finishing coat of black paint, first impression is ,no additional induction roar when revved but ive still to roadtest it,no warning lights either lol anyhow heres a pic of the finished article, comments good and bad welcome as usual

well i took car out for a blast last night and there is a wee bit more induction roar and car seemed to be pulling a wee bit harder so all in all seems a worthwhile wee free mod,im going to get a itg panel filter to compliment it too

I want someone to do this, but put a 12v pc fan instead of meshing... Someone must get bored and have a go, there like 2 quid lol

    An Electric Turbo eh?

I looked at the idea earlier this year, but trying to put the fan on the normal inlet pipe/hole. No success yet, no space to fit one easily.
An additional hole like the above looks a good place to fit one, if there is space in front or behind the hole.

I drilled extra 19mm holes in the straight part of the "Flexible" plastic pipe that connects the intake to the airbox.

I got a fan from an old dell computer, one with a thermister in the airflow, which spins faster the hotter the air is.
It spins very fast when the thermister is shorted out.
It should be possible to add a speed control across the thermister.

Howevere the whole Electric Turbo idea attracts less than favourable comments from some members on here, especially the ones who have spent fortunes on real turbo's and re-maps, etc.

I once thought about messing with a mini 12v compressor for inflating tyres, you could cut the valve attachment off and feed a 10mm hole in the bottom of the airbox, have a switch in the car...

But I've seen too many leaf blower vids on N/A cars to realise it would be pointless, but it would dump a load of cold air in there quite quickly

I think i will do this mod once i get some mesh or find a pipe and run it down to the wheel arch so it gets colder air and not engine bay air with mesh over the pipe

on the v6 turbo and im assuming most other vecs the space in front of hole ive drilled is very tight and so running an extra cold air feed to it would be a challenge
