The vast majority of diesels have a rev limiter
However, there is an option (via TECH2) to activate a speed limit in any vehicle, and many company cars have this applied (which they then have removed when they dispose of the vehicle, although they sometimes forget!)

Our latest batch of company vans have the speed limit set to 60mph

Cheers guys. I was just wondering as i have had 140mph indicated on the speedo before (not on public road) and it was still accelerating well but the engine seemed to just back off all of a sudden. Was wondering if this was the speed limiter activating.

Were you in 6th gear per chance?
If so, try using 5th gear instead and don't use 6th gear

    Vehicle : Insignia Tourer

    Trim : Elite

    Engine : 2.0 CDTI (160ps)

    Year : 2010

Dunno about the diesels but my 2.0T definitely has a speedlimiter on it as at one of the recent rolling road days, they did a top speed run on mine and it just would not go past 156mph even though there was tons of revs left before it hit the rev limiter. Interestingly they got exactly the same result with a couple of the other cars too (including a VXR).
