    Default Cooling Fan not working?

    Hi all

I recently changed my thermostat as it was fluctating all over the place. For the first 2 days the temparture gauge stayed at 80c then after that stayed at the bottom and will not move at all despite driving through town or on a motorway or similar, however today whilst idiling after 15 minutes or so it went up to 80c and the coolant boiled over without the fan kicking in or so much as a warning except smoke under the bonnet. I would have assumed the temparture gauge to be in the red for that to happen. Anyone any ideas of whats going wrong? Engine is the z18xe sxi 2003.

    Thanks any help appreciated

Pull the electrical plug off the thermostat housing and, with the ignition on, the fan should run automatically. Check the fuses under the bonnet, its the huge ones on the left of the fuse box

My fan had seized and I didn't realise.

Mind you, when it did overheat I had the gauge climb into the red, and the fault light come on
