Vectra buyer needing advice

I have owned loads of vauxhalls in the past from Astra gsi, vec b, calibras etc, and am now on the lookout for a good vec c or signum as a family car.
i have spotted a 55 plate so facelift vectra Sri 1.8 70k used to be a company car. Mot dec 12, full service history. It's in black and is in good condition considering the age and usage with only minor marks here and there. Anyway the garage is asking 2900 for it do you think that's a bit high or about right?
also after test driving the car it is fast enough and has plenty of space as all I am after is a nice economical family car but with decent styling. I don't really do many miles just back and two to work most days with the odd longer run every couple of weeks that's why I haven't considered the cdti 150.

So questions are what peoples thoughts are on the 1.8 Sri so far as economy and also if the car is priced about right?

ive got the 1.8 im averaging 34 mpg sometimes 39 mpg depending on the right foot,
motorway some on here have got around 50 mpg doing 60 mph

Think it's a 2005 model

I've got a 1.8 SRi, and as stated above if you take it easy you can expect somewhere between 35-40mpg. I'm currently showing an average of 39.2mpg. Price wise, as long as it is in good nick, I'd say it seemed pretty fair at £2900 even if it is a 2005 model.

Think it's a 2005 model

Easy way to identify (assuming no modifications, which is quite easy with most ex-company cars)
2002 to 2005 have square front headlight cluster
2006 onwards have elliptical front headlight cluster

I personally found the 1.8 SRi rather unimpressive, probably due to the standard 5 front speed gear box
