You're a full member, so you have Trade Club access, so I'd recommend GM's Dexos 2 oil - very good quality and very competitive price when bought on TC (the retail price is high though). If it was me, I'd change the spark plugs as well - they're easy to change and the recommended interval seems stupidly high.

The best oil? Well generally the more expensive the better it should be. But all you really need is 5/30 fully synthetic. How often do you change the oil? If its 20k or once a year then remember to buy a GM LL specific grade, if you do it more often and with less miles just use 5/30 fully synthetic like Mobil 1 or Castrol Magnatec or Edge. I prefer Castrol Magnatec to GM Dexos 2, I find the Magnatec is quieter. Check out Opie Oils website Opie Oils 5/30 and see what is available in 5/30

If you were selecting a Mobil oil, it should be 0w40, not 5w30. The latter only meets Dexos1 standard, whereas the 0w40 version meets Dexos2 standard.
