well you don't want to buy the set..mine cost me over 200 quid and never leaves my workshop.....If you have a 2.5v6 kit it will fit the 3.2 thou.. they're identical...I'd rather fit your belt for you than lend the kit out..

Forgive me for asking, do you work for/run a garage then?
In which case, how much would you charge for fitting a cambelt kit (supplied or un supplied).

The reason for me asking the original question BTW is that a friend of mine used to work for Vx and did the belt on my old 2.5, but if the price is right then natrually I'd drive probably the journey, unless a large deposit would suffice?

Subject to avaliable time, i'll quite happily fit the kit for you for nowt..just the price of the belt kit..

It's a complex job, even with the kit, as it involves making sure that 5 pulleys are in line, as well as 2 idlers providing the correct amount of belt 'wrap' to allow the tensioner to have enough movement to get the correct tension without running out of room..( the belt is tight to the idler casting)..

This is why i don't want to lend the kit out.. the room for disaster is just too great..

Do i own/run a garage??.. sometimes it still feels like it... I gave up working on cars for a living but somehow still have a long 'private' client list, and still have an attraction to the snap-on van..I now run an aircraft parts fabrication firm..with a nice roomy workshop for playing with cars.

I'll order a kit from LMF then
I can imagine that it's a tricky job though as when my 2.5 was done they gave the belt 5 full rotations in order to check the timing of the pulleys between each rotation in order to make sure that the timing was spot on.

    Where abouts are you BTW?

I was told last night how much VX charge for this...I nearly fell over..

Lets say, not a lot of change from £350.....

It's all part of the vectra-c.com experience..

Vx say 80,000 miles.. but i wouldn't leave one on past 40k bud..they used to have a nasty habit of snapping at around 40-50K, so i normally change them at 30ish K..Cheaper than a new engine....

Oh, and while it's stripped out i always chuck another water pump on it, asd these have a habit of going at 50K miles....
