Default Intermitent / Normal Wiper speeds not working, Any idea what is faulty?

    Hi,

I would be greatful for some help to determine what is faulty?

Coming to work this morning in my 07 Vectra my front wipers started off very slow and stopped mid-way up the screen. After several attempts I managed to get them back to normal starting position.

Currently they don't work at all on intermitent or normal speeds but work fine on the fast speed..........

I was thinking the motor but just wanted to clarify with someone who has experienced the same?

Thanks in advance for your help..

    Marty.

There are 2 fuses for the windscreen wipers, 1 for fast and 1 for intermittent and slow. The fuses are in the fuse box under the bonnet, numbers 11 and 22. Check these first before replacing the motor.

    Appreciate your feedback mate.

I'll give that a go later when I get home.

When you select the inter & normal speeds you can hear something moving (kind of like a grinding noise) and it stops when on full speed when the wipers work. Would this happen on inter/normal if the fuse was goosed?

In your opinion if the fuses are ok based on the above would it defo be the motor?

The cheapest I can get one is £65+vat (new). Stealers are looking 95+vat for one.

Sorry I really dont know but id suspect that if it was the motor then they wouldn't work on full speed.

Here is a known issue with the wiper motor, you could read through the discussion thread see if anyone had the same problem.
