    Default Freeview boxes advise please

Afternoon folks. Anybody any advice on Freeview boxes. like everyone else these days were looking at making some cut backs. We was with sky for a long time but for some reason my wife decided to go with virgin. Our bills are around £90 for broadband calls and tv, I was just thinking about getting a Freeview box and getting the broadband etc from someone else. I'm guessing it's just the cost of the box and we'd do away with monthly subscription fee's ??

i have sky tv at home and wont be getting rid, my experiences of freeview boxes is limited but ou only ever seem to get about 10 channels.

had freeview in a hotel a couple of weeks ago and dave was about the only channel worth watching at all!

I've just got a Freeview+ box with built-in 250GB hard drive for £45 on Ebay.

I live in Merseyside and it gets 12 transmitters and all the Freeview channels. If you do get a Freeview box and you are in range of Welsh transmitters, don't connect the aerial when tuning until about 740Mhz (about two-thirds into the tuning process) otherwise some of your channels will be allocated to Welsh rather than North-West transmitters, and the Welsh transmitters are prone to losing signal strength here, particularly in poor weather conditions) I use 6 transmitter frequencies and get all the channels on North-West frequencies).

Freeview is equivalent to the standard 'M' television package (without 'catch up) on a Virgin 'V' box. (I have one of those too).
