    confused Smoking fan

Hi all, my blower fan has been playing up, it works on all speeds, but it's seems to be holding back on speed 4 it speeds up slowly but not quite full speed, the rotation speed seems to fluctuate also on setting 4 smoke starts to fill the cab, today i stripped it again and this time used a syringe to force grease into the motor bearings, motor is moving at correct speed again, but the smoke on setting 4 still remains, there was a bit of grease around where the power plug goes in would this cause it to smoke, also resister pack is fine.

i think the previous owner of your car had the scuttle leak through the pollen filter
and the water has taken out the grease causing it to smoke

    this may help

IMAGE_210.jpgthis pic is from another post........... cleaned out fan motor today, noticed the copper wire that goes into the spring loaded bit had perished, also there was a wedge of some sort of metal at the left next to the coil of copper, im assuming this bit of metal has worn and moved away from the spring loaded part and the copper wire has come loose, i removed the spring and place the copper wire so it was touching the motor and put spring back in , it worked great for about 10 min and then i was back to square one, are these parts available or is it a new motor, i think its one of the bushes that have went, unlike the pic, i have a small plastic clips holding the spring in, so hopefully it's designed to be fixed.

I would doubt just the part you require is a available
You may be able to source one from a scrappy
Otherwise it is a new one

I had a similar issue with the ventilation motor on my Rover
The part I required would cost about £10, but wasn't available separately, so it was a complete new assembly
