Power Boot Won't Close

Morning,

Always said this would be more trouble than its worth. The boot will open no problem, when I come to close the boot via the button on the tail gate it only closes part way and then opens again and I am having to press hard down on the boot to close it.

Any ideas, not very technical and will I damage the boot by closing manually.

Mine did this once, wouldn't close properly for a few days and I thought the motor had bust a tooth or something until I had to disconnect the battery for something else I was doing, after that it's been perfect again since. Try disconnecting your battery for 10 mins or so and see if it works again, might be coincidence but it did for me, I think it might reset the limiters in the motor or something.
