    Default How to check discs

    How do I check I need new discs mother in law say don't need them bla bla the rears I know as they are grooved and ribbly but how do I check the front thanks

    the same as the rears, but most importantly the thickness, will tell you if they are worn

    What's the thickness ment to me the fronts are smooth no lines on the face like the rear

    Ideally with pair of vernier calipers or similar.

    But as long as theirs no major scoring, blueing an no big lip on the edge of the discs they SHOULD be ok.

    Depends on what discs are fitted
    Basically, take the measurement stamped on the edge and deduct 2mm

    On my 314mm discs, they are 28mm new and 26mm minimum

    However if you know the history of the disc, then you can take them to about 2 or 3 sets of pads
    I have had 3 sets of pads on mine, they are about 23mm (and clearly showing signs that they are at the end of their life)

    There is usually a cut out in the outside edge of discs that is basically a wear indictor, once you reach it its time to change. I'll see if I can find a pic of what I mean.

    There are some define measurements in which they recommend changing of the discs and dont forget the pads when you do the discs.Try doing a search on here, im sure ive seen it somewhere matey
