Default Air Con / Climate Control problem

    Hi all,

I bought a 1.9CDTI auto Vectra (56 plate) a couple of months ago and took it to Kwik Fit to have the AC/CC recharged. I tested it quickly and it seemed cool although not cold, this was when the weather was a lot cooler.
In this recent spell of warmer weather it has become apparent that it is far from cold or chilly.
I took it back to Kwik Fit today who have re-gassed it and put in dye, but they cannot find any leaks, but is still the same as before.

If you start from no fan and press the auto button, you can 'hear' the slight change in engine note and the fan turns on to the 1st setting, and if you hold your hand over the vent for half a second you feel chilled air but then it quickly increses in temp to just cold/mildly warm.

It doesn't make any differance if I use AC or CC.
    Any ideas?

To check I'm not being stupid, (a distinct possibility) when you go into the menu system and select AC for example, I am presuming a cross in the box means selected/on and no cross in the box means not selected/off....just in case my logic is wrong!!!!

Also, can anyone recommend a good mobile aircon engineer in the West London area?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff.

Big Sig named it in one check at the very bottom of the engine on the left hand side the compressor and its electric clutch, shine a torch down between the hoses and see if the clutch is engaging, check the fuses and check the relay 3rd one from bottom right underhood electrical centre.

    Thanks for the replies.
Is that the left as viewed from the front or the cars left?
Also is it the front or back of the engine bay and what does the clutch look like?

    Cheers,
    Jeff.

Also look at the control flaps, to see if they are operating correctly, if they are stuck then the car will be mixing warm air with the air conditioned air.

Ok, what and where are they?
Are they an easy thing to access?

    Cheers,
    Jeff.

Behind the dash. Can be accessed with the glovebox out the way, IIRC.
