Big ones.... Never done a diesel but I did a mates petrol and that was a chew. Luckily got it to run again but got all water out of the cylinders by pulling the sparks....

Depends how far the water has got....

Dad did this. New engine! The water in the cylinders will not compress so it ***es the engine like you had just filled it with concrete if you get what I mean.

If your engine has sucked water into the combustion chambers and tried to compress that it will be goosed . If you are lucky and it has only got to the maf sensor they are about £70 I think. Dont know about the electrics though.

if you tried to start it with water in the induction system think new engine.. so, a couple of grand minimum..

Hopefully it's just electronic..but i'd start by removing the glowplugs and trying to crank the engine over..if ANY water emerges from the cylinders then it's a TOTAL engine strip to see if the conrods or the like have any damage.. lets just say it's just about as bad a thing you can do to a diesel engine..

AS above, hopefully removing all electrical connectors and squirting with WD40 to drive out moisture will let the engine start..BTW, the main engine ECU is in the engine compartment..so it may be drowned..

Does the engine turn over??.. do the dash lights illuminate??..does the starter solenoid click without the starter turning??..

any more information you can give??..

indeed you do need to get it to a garage.. but make them aware that they must'nt try and start it without removing the glowplugs to remove any compression in the cylinders...

stand back and wait to sell you soul.. this one may cost you dear..
