    Default Insurance "fronting" - Question...

So firstly, this is not me, ive got my own policy and have done since day 1.

however, I have recently heard of a very close relative is pulling the insurance fronting, (i wont name any names) What would you do about this?

    A little on the situation.

    - New driver (3 months driving) Ford mondeo 2.0 tdci insurance by dad for son.
    - Son does not live with parents, car is not kept at registered address at any time its always at the "named drivers" address.
    - Named driver drives car 95% of time.
    - Named driver drives like a complete idiot, doesnt deserve a license (this is where it kinda gets person as he drives this this with a direct family member + child) and does not care.
    - Several people now refuse to get in the car with him due to the state of driving

He is one of these that HAS to do the speed limit + a bit more, Even if this means tail gating so close to intimidate other drivers.

Unfortunately we (family) have tried to get the direct family member to stop going in the car, but its very difficult when its there only mode of real transport for family things.

Now this guy is fronting which i believe is against the law?

What would you do? I would love to report him but where/how? You/Any one can call me a grass, but he is going to kill some one at this rate!

    Default

You could report the poor standard of driving to the police, with enough reports action will be taken

The purpose of this is probably the parent feeling compelled to assist their son

In theory it is fronting, but this is not an obvious use and case, as the parent is probably able to use the vehicle at any time when they request
The next issue is the ratio of driving the named driver has taken risk to on the policy, some specify this, others do not (as an example mileage limit, or occasional use)
You would need proof of who owns the car and who the car is registered to
This is only likely to be investigated in a full insurance claim and/or the result of a police accident report

If you are able to obtain the name of the insurance company, then you could inform them of the circumstances
To commence the process, make a formal complaint to :
    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...complaints.htm
However as above you will need evidence

I would also suggest keeping a record of the vehicle movements and drivers involved
I know of a few people that have done this, but the outcome was no action taken...
Sad really that you need to wait for such a driver to learn from their mistake(s) and no doubt involving some other innocent member of the public
