Default electro hydraulic power assisted steering warning light

Hey me again today when i was driving this light came on only briefly, but i had been noticing that sometimes the steering got heavy and then back to normal,is there a quick fix for this like power steering fluid top up?

Whether there's a quick fix depends on what the fault is. It's certainly worthwhile checking the power steering fluid level though, although it's meant to be fairly maintenance free on the Vectra as it's a semi-sealed system. You must get the fluid from Vauxhall, it's not the common ATF type hydraulic fluid. However, it's not expensive so not to worry

You don't say what engine you have. It's either on the bulkhead or in front of the offside front wheel. Follow the pipes from the steering rack to find it. The latter sort is easiest accessed by removing the front bumper. Top up the fluid as required.

If you have the one in front of the wheel, while you are under there check if you have a fluid level sensor next to the filler cap (on a short wire which runs down to the EHPS ECU under the fluid bottle). These were fitted to early cars and are known to give false low fluid warnings and now have to be programmed out (or ignored) as the part is no longer available. You'd need to read the fault codes to find out if this - or whatever else it might be) is the issue first though, but hopefully it's a genuine low fluid warning.

Have your alternator and battery checked - that's a classic sign of alternator failing - also check the plug - in connectors to the p/steering pump.
