my sister has recently been involved in an accident in her 2009 corsa cdti design . pre accident condition of the car could only be described as spotless inside & out ( apart from the wheels needed a clean )
the whole offside of the car was damaged & needed major repair work .
the insurance company sent the car to a local vauxhall dealer ( not gonna name & shame just yet )
they have had the car since april 16th , she has only just got it back today & she had a few concerns regarding the standard of the repairs & so asked me & my brother to have a good look over the car , we had a good look over it & came up with quite a list of nasties , some quite minor but some quite major , either way this is not the kind of standard I would expect from any bodyshop , not to mention an insurance approved main dealer one .
they have said they are going to have another look at the car with regards to sorting it out , this is not enough & in my opinion they should be looking to replace the car or compensate her for the state of the repairs & devaluing of the car .
anyway , I will list the faults that I can remember .
1 "design" badge missing from drivers door even though listed on parts invoice.
2 door mirror housing still has scratches in the paint from when the glass came out in the accident .
3 vin sticker missing from B post , not sure if there should be an airbag sticker on the rear of the door .
4 inside of door still buckled around impact bar spot welds even though the car has had a door skin fitted .
5 paint is so thin on the inside of the drivers door that primer can be seen through it when the sun is shining on the car .
6 no paint on edge of rear wheel arch , just primer & some of it is flaking already .
7 rear bumper touching quarter panel , no gap ( will probably rub through paint in normal use & cause rust )
8 joint & sealer of rear quarter panel ( inside boot aperture ) looks a complete mess .
9 marks in filler & small amounts of paint missing on rear C pillar where rear quarter has been pieced in.
10 overspray inside fuel filler opening , all over the rear inner wheel arch , fuel tank & rear axle .
11 no sealer used where new quarter panel is joined to rear of sill , meaning noticeable repair .
12 no sealer or paint ( bare metal) from the rear of the sill to under drivers door on underside of the car ( where new panel has been spot welded )
13 old mud flap ( complete with scuffs ) has been refitted on front of car even though invoice states new one fitted
14 wheels have not been cleaned before being repainted & not been correctly masked so the inside of the wheels have noticeable overspray on the brake dust / muck .
15 drivers front wing panel gaps not right .
16 paint finish on car is generally not as good as it should be ( orange peel )
17 overspray on rubber grommets in bottom of sill ( noticeable sign of repair )
18 grinder mark in sill ( under paint )
that is about as much as I can think of up to now & is really not what should be expected as far as repair standards go , especially when the total repair cost was £3600
apologies for the long winded post but I am totally shocked at the poor standard of the repair .
