    Default 3.0 CDTi tuning

Hi all is it worth me sticking a performance panel filter on the 3.0 CDti (184ps version) as it only made 167bhp on the RR the other day?

Is K&N or Pipercross best? Prefer the looks of K&N but Pipercross cheaper.

Can I do the airbox mod on this engine? The ECU is mounted to the top of the air box . . . nice design lol

Yes you can do the mod if you mean removing the lower restrictive section as I have do e this and also added a K&N purely for the fact I got it cheaper and was servicing my car.

Was it worthwhile in terms of performance and/or sound? My turbo already makes a great noise but maybe a little induction roar would sound nice? Can you fit a blow off valve/dump valve to 1) sound nice 2) help the turbo life.

Can't say I noticed any difference at all mate. Except it seemed to be smoother pulling off bit then my paper filter was ditched and there was feathers in the box lol.

I guess if you *****ed the bottom of the box and put Electra breath holes in it the noise would be noticeable.

I've done the air box mod and popped in a courtnaey sport panel filter - also cleaned out the air box while i was at it, can't say i've noticed much difference tbh, then again it's only a filter, if you do notice anything then it would just be mind-play! Worth doing as while you're there the amount of crap you can vac out of the air box is staggering.

You can fit a dump valve yes but the benefits of fitting one to a diesel are questionable! There has been plenty discussion on here about it, run a search to find some info

I was told that a dump valve isn't a possibility on the 3.0. No way of telling the valve to open? I found the air box mod and K&N to make smoother acceleration like Ben said.

What about a big / bigger intercooler on the 3.0, anyone done this? I think you can buy off the shelf kits for the 1.9?

The std intercooler is the same one thats on the VXR, it's position is compromised as it is sandwiched between the A/C condensor and the radiator, move it to the front and you may see a little improvement in air temp, not sure how much though.

How much do you want to spend? You could put a bigger inter cooler on, gtv 2260 turbo and all manner of other bits but what is it you are aiming for and what is the budget?
