    Default Window tinting

I'm going to have a go at tinting my windows in July but not sure what % to get.

I want it darker at the rear and lightening towards the front. It must remain legal as the wife drives it more than me and I don't want it looking chavvy.

    It's a silver lightening car.

Is it worth buying pre cut or going for the bigger rolls and cutting myself? Closest I've got to doing something like this is the backing on my aquarium.

There are loads of options on fleabay so a little confusing which to get

If as you say, you want to remain legal, you can only tint the rear and rear sides. You cannot tint the front sides at all as the tint is already at the maximum legal limit.

My personal opinion is that any tint looks a bit chavvy unless they are all the same. As you cannot tint the fronts (legally) it looks to upset the balance of the car. But each to their own. Would look lovely if all windows could be done.

I had a Seat Leon waving me out of the fuel station this morning, only I couldn't see him because he had tinted his windows. only done to hide the faces of drug dealers!! he he!!!!

(edit,... just noticed you have an estate - I think they look fine on the estate rears)

I have my fronts tinted and ive never been pulled the only time the cops will pull u is if they are stuipidly dark on the front i have limo on the back and side windows all way up to the front then i have the nexxt one dark to the limit but it looks darker as the back is quite dark and doesnt let as much light in the car causing the fronts to look darker than what they are

i understand that u are going to have a go at doing it your self well i bet its gonna cost your at least £70 or more to buy a role of tint or 2 then u have to do it u must be mad i had a guy that came to me at my home and tinted myn £100 for the back tinting at £130 for the hole car mate

Its tricky but not impossible, you just need LOTS of patience! Have a look on youtube for videos on wet and dry shrinking, you need to do this on the rear window as its slightly curved so will crease without shrinking. Ive done a few of my own cars and happy with the results. Plus the film only cost me £20 max. Get a decent film like SunTek as it shrinks easier than cheaper film that may melt. Also you need a heat gun, a hairdryer aint hot enough (as i found out when i tried first time lol)

Film will never cost £70 for a car, even the most premium expensive film does not cost that much! £20 Max for a large estate....there is ALOT of profit in tinting.
