    Default DTUK Green box query

    Hi all,

Had a brief play with a mates DTUK eco green box today. His is an identical car, same model year similar miles etc. His runs on setting 9 and so I thought that'll be reet for mine (I know.....I didn't think that through! )

Started and idled fine, puff of smoke on acceleration so I was pulling over to wind it back when the car cut out and wouldn't restart. Got it towed back and came up with P0090 Rail Pressure Sensor DTC. Diesel everywhere so I'm thinking pump/injectors/fuel rail ££££ in fact it had blown a pipe off the back of the pump.

Now I'll admit to my buffoonery for not starting off on setting 7 like the manufacturer recommends but is there really that much pressure difference between 7 and 9 - seemed fairly poorly. I generally read most peeps running them on 8/9 or beyond, was this perhaps just a weak connector or something cos I'm not rushing to try it again on a lower setting or otherwise!

    Cheers for any thoughts

Sounds like a weak connector but the pressure in the fuel rail is HUGE. The injectors won't activate if the pressure in the rail is below 300bar/4300psi if I remember right.

Yep agreed, common rails are scary high pressure, I was just a little confused why the pressure was that much more and popped the hose off within a couple of hundred yards.

My concern with trying one again is what else is going to give up the ghost; is it going to send anything else to an early grave.
