    Default BC - Have I got a problem ?

So, I filled up with standard Esso fuel this morning - and have driven 50miles...40 on motorway with cc at 65mph, the rest 30mph, but my BC is showing the attached...

It's never been that high before, so just wondered if my BC is playing up ?

    1.8 petrol (2009 reg)

    Thanks !IMG_20120521_142432.jpg

In our 1.8 I did 500 miles to the tank at 62mph on cc and I had an engine block in the boot, so i would expect that milage.

Wow that is quite a high reading "Instant Consumption" lol

On tick over mine reads about 0.1 miles/gal
    Already replaced:-

You should be able to get over 50mpg from a 1.8. Give this a try - reset the BC counters, then go for a drive. Change up at 2000rpm, change down at 1200rpm. Accelerate gently, and slow down using the engine rather than the brakes (which means leaving a larger stopping distance so you can react). Do 56-60mph rather than 70mph on dual carriageways, unless you have to overtake something going less than 50mph. Don't use cruise control if there are hills. Basically aim to do everything smoothly and calmly. Makes for dull driving though!

Instantaneous Consumption isn't that useful to look at, as when you're decelerating the engine's using little or no fuel, so it goes up to silly values (999.9mpg) at times. It's worth resetting the range and other BC counters when you fill up every so often. Otherwise the average consumption is over such a long period that it won't show any difference even if you change your driving style.
