Default Dissapointed in my cdti performance

Ive got a vectra 1.9cdti with a tuning box and proven rolling road printout of 190bhp and 280lbft of torque. I was driving home a couple of days ago and had a bit of fun with a escort rs turbo and a fiesta st expecting not much competition.

I was surprised to see that i was neck and neck with the escort but the fiesta actually started pulling slightly away (not massively i would say from 2 car lenths to about 5 over a mile). I know the fiesta st's are nippy little things but when i had my standard astra coupe turbo i beat one and thought the vectra would do the same. I know diesels feel faster with the torque but didnt expect a little fiesta to do me

I dont condone racing or anything like that but roads were quiet so just thought id have a bit of fun.

The power to weight ratio of the ST will be a lot more favourable I would imagine. One would expect you to have closed back up over a mile though - maybe his was tuned as well tho.

Plus remember you dont know what state of tune the other cars were in.

My Series 2 Escord RS Turbo (90's Spec) was a full POwer Engineering car with there Blueprint engine and turbo etc etc etc... But from the outside bar the big brakes and exhaust looked standard.. That would take most cars in the road due to power to weight etc... Infact it was actually dangerous

Well there wasnt a great deal of difference with mine and the rs turbo so im guessing that may have been standard ish but there are quite a few st's around here running around 170bhp and i dont think that one was standard. The last 1/4 mile i started pulling him in a bit as i got further round the speedo lol

Don't Fiesta ST's weigh just over a ton? Vectra about 1.5 ton? For me that would explain why it was so nippy, plus I doubt it was standard (150 bhp iirc).

As a stock car, the ST has an almost identical bhp:ton to your modded veccy. (think the st is 94.3bhp:ton and your veccy 94.7bhp:ton) so I'd assume the ST was also modded.

(both figures were calculated from the "gross weight" of identical vehicles on Auto Trader so are unlikely to be 100% accurate)
