Cool Has anyone fitted a single mass flywheel to their 1.9 150 yet??

    Hi all

As the title says, has anyone done this conversion yet back to a solid flywheel?

There are mixed reviews on this as they are supposed to be heavier and also sound louder on start up etc

But I've had some info on a new one with a sprung hub anti noise/anti judder clutch driven plate, which would help on the above issues?

    Thanks

Vehicle : Mk1 renault scenic... I know I know but it drives

    Sounds interesting mate.

As I've heard friends fitting single mass to customers vehicles mainly vag an the customer returning weeks/ months later asking to get rid of vibrations lol

Also heard of damaged gearboxes due to extra vibrations and one instance of a snapped crank.

But if their is a further improved sprung clutch plate might eliminate the faults.

Be interesting to see how it goes but weather you want to risk a gearbox as a trial?

I had a new clutch fitted to my 1.9 150 TDi VW Bora and at the same time (on my mechanics advice) went over to a single mass flywheel. No regrets at all. Marginally more vibration at tickover but once it's on the move it's fine. OK I know it's not a Vauxhall, but same principle applies One less thing to go wrong in future I think.

See quite a few high mileage fords and VW's coming in to work for failed/noisy gearbox's after running single flywheel conversions. Not seen many duel mass fly wheel ones with he same problem.

They are harsher, vibrate more and not as smooth as the duel mass flywheels.

Probably a silly question as I think the answer is obvious, but is there a DMF fitted to the auto AF40 boxes or a single mass?

Personally I would stick with a DMF even if they are a bit crap... there for a reason unfortunately
