    Vehicle : Vectra Estate

    Trim : SRI

    Engine : CDTI 150 (Z19 DTH)

    Year : 2008

    Mileage : 100k

Default Would you remap my car... read on....

So - my new car is the following:

2006 Vectra CDTI 150 Life Estate

Now - the reason I am not just getting it remapped is that its done 177k miles nearly....

Do you think thats too many miles for a remap?

The car has full Vaux Service History - new Inlet - new clutch and flywheel - new driveshafts etc etc etc....

I will be fitting a new Turbo before the remap should I do it..

The engine doesnt skip a beat at present - uses no oil etc..

So - what do we think?

    A

    Remap it bud.

If the car has been looked after, serviced regulary; runs smooth and you're going to replace the turbo first it will be fine.

My Vec 2.2 petrol has just hit 94,000 miles and I'm just starting to tune it. I shall also be mapping it. More often than not a well mapped car will run more efficiently.........

Remap it but respect it like you would in any other car. Has it done mostly motorway miles all its life? I'd much rather own and remap a car that has just sat on the motorway at 2k revs all its life than a low miles example that has just done round town driving forever. A good remap should be tailored to you anyway. Have a chat with dichp on here. He had one done a few weeks ago and was pretty impressed with it. The guys that did it will travel too.

I think you'd be pushing your luck - a remap exposes any faults that the engine has that are currently hidden, it'll punish any weak boost control valves and hoses, and at that mileage the DMF and clutch will struggle to cope with the extra power - unless you've already replaced them?

Ive changed the clutch and DMF for a full LUK kit and Sachs DMF last month..

there are no weak spots on the engine - I know this as I have been over it in some detail - lol... Of course I cant tell internals etc, but everything else is tip top

Turbo I am changing as the bearings are whining a lot - but its still boosts very well etc..

EGR and Boost (MAP) sensor are new with the inlet last year...

You won't know the weak spots until they cause a problem - it's like going for a medical exam and thinking you know exactly what the outcome will be. I suspect that you already have your decision about your remap before you started this post, perhaps you should have called it "I'm getting a remap "
