Exclamation Car Filled with Smoke on way home!

So, today has not been a good day, this morning I smelled of diesel after a spill. Now I smell of electrical burning. See below. And yes, my 'sock' was filled with compost, I cleaned it at lunch when I realised it was going a bit nuts. Sadly, too late, the car wash this morning did it's worst!

Didn't another one go up in smoke recently too? At least nothing too major caught fire!

Yeah I saw someone else's. All that rain recently, that and I have to park under some trees at the office, equals lots of leaves blowing into the scuttle and filling the 'sock'. It gets blocked and that's that.

is your scuttle tray blocked up causing it to go through the pollen filter

then water gets into the heater blower / regulator

Scuttle tray was clear, a couple of leaves but nothing special, pollen filter was dry and a similar colour to when I replaced it three months ago. But the sock was full of mulch. The wife reminded me she thought she'd seen a bit of water on her handbag handle, but it had been raining outside. Obviously that was the start. Fortunately the part is readily available these days and not that expensive.

Practically every vauxhall has had this problem. My P Reg Astra I just sold, I had to re-wire the passenger side footwell because of shorted wires.
