Default Upgrading cd30 to work with iPod?

Hi All, new to all this so hope I'm in the right bit! Ive got a cd30 (that sounds quite tinny) it has no aux, I've seen them in the bit underneath, but i want to either upgrade it to cd30mp3 or cd40, or just upgrade the cd30 to have an aux in?

I'm sure its been asked before but would really appreciate some advice as I'm off on my beast across europe soon!

    Thanks

    James

Pretty sure CD30 can't be updated to have an aux-in, not sure the CDC40 can either but the CD70 can with a bit of work. Do a search on here, there are loads of threads about it. Agree with you about the poor sound from the CD30 though!
I'm sure some of the ICE gurus will be along to advise in due course...

Welcome to Vectra C Forum James.
Be aware that this thread might get moved to the Modifying Section, instead of being left in the Troubleshooting Section.

Just so we all know, do you have 6 buttons or 2 scroll wheels on the steering wheel to control the audio??

2 scroll wheels, oh and I'm not adverse to aftermarket but like keeping it simple as I'm no tech genius! Happy to be moved wherever, I will get the hang of it!

CD70 is a possibility as it has Sat Nav, it would be better with a colour screen (as opposed to the orange one you have) and an aux-in would cost about £65 to have someone do it for you.

CDC40 could be the way to go, good sound quality and 6 CD changer.
The CDC40 uses an aux input for the DAB box, so I THINK it can have any input instead of the DAB box.
You would have to wire the aux input via the Quadlock connector on the rear of the CDC40, using (as far as I know) pin 31 for left, pin 32 for right and pin 38 for earth.
However nothing will show on the screen.

The input to the aux in could be a 3.5mm jack plug in a spare switch panel next to the radio, or you can get a storage tray with a build in 3.5mm jack.
You could also use a panel mounted USB socket with a built in 12v to 5v converter (to charge the MP3 player) and also use the data pins for the aux in-put.
