Default Can anyone identify this problem???

    Hi,

This isn't a vectra it's my partners Peugeot 206, however I know you guys are pretty good on here do was looking for some advice.

She started it this morning and there was a real string smell of petrol from the exhaust, also the revs were all over the place when it was stood there. Instead of sitting on idle it was going above then dropping the revs low then picking up again. After a few minutes waiting the revs seemed to sort itself but there was still the fuel smell.

Im pretty sure there has been a slight fuel smell before but not as bad as this morning, and her mpg is awful, nowhere near what she should get.

    Anyone know why?

Its a Peugeot 206 1.4 petrol engine. 2007 model with 29k on clocks.

    Thanks

My technical knowledge is very limited, especially concerning peugeots but if there isn't a petrol leak, my guess would be the choke. The smell of petrol & poor mpg sounds like over fuelling, the engine running rough could be because it is getting flooded. I'm sure someone with a bit more expertise will be along soon.
