    Default white smoke cdti

HI, I have been in and out of the dealers for the last 3 months with my 1.9 04 sri with the same problem. The problem is that after leaving the car sitting for around 3 hours it would cough and produce a plume of white smokeonce started for about 10 secs. The dealer has replaced the injectors, MAF senors and water temp gauge which did help, also a compression test has been done. As yet the problem has not been solved. Anyone heard of this?

i've had one with whiteish smoke that was a blown turbo..that was a warranty job..it layed down quite a smokescreen....but that was a hint of blue as well..

Really white smoke is unburnt diesel..waayy too much unburnt diesel..makes me wonder if it's injection timing while it's on 'coldstart' ..Crankshaft sensor??

so far it has had.. turbo, starter, rear shocks, egr, injectors, maf !!! i know it is going to be a small sensor causing this as i can stop it smoking if i v lightly touch the throttle or unplug the maf senor. The engine also knocks(tap tap) when cold and also on heavy right foot moments!

I have a case number with VX now so i may get the attention needed....

if you don't get any joy, get back to us.... VX hate me....

it will knock when cold, but they 'booting' moments make me think of injector timing again..unplugging the MAF only makes the engine run on a "default" setting of airflow thats programmed into the ECU.. have they not got any faultcodes??..

no current ones faults as far as i am aware. I did have a digi box on there for a while but this has been removed for some time now. Hope to get a call soon from VX and may well mention the timing but i would of hoped they would of found/thought of that... who knows! the CS manager and the dealers has seen the fault and i have his backing for the time being. I will post any progress.

these are the general meanings of having different smoke coming out of your exhaust.

    blue smoke-oil
    black smoke-diesel
    white smoke-water

    Hi
I have the same problem with my CDTI 150, I have had it to the dealer and they said it may be condensation in the CAT which is producing the smoke on start up, they then said they checked the ECU and no faults were shown and they reset the unit. I am no convinced that it is fixed. Did you manage to sort your fault with your car?
