PRM, there has been a thread on this already..
One of the admin boys will be able to provide a link to OILMAN's replys on this subject.
Personally thou,I use VX's longlife oil and change it every 6,000 miles.
Yes, i've seen the thread, i just wondered what we all used, is changing longlife oil every 6000 abit of a waste as its so expensive?
PRM,
I take this line.. I've laid out £13k for the car, and I buy the longlife oil and filter for £15. Over the years this policy has let me take my Mk2 Cav sri130 to 296Kmiles and then my pre-production Mk3 cav v6 to 196K miles and the cav still runs fine!!! ( my mate bought it and it still doesn't smoke or burn oil)
So IMO if you change the oil regularly with the best you can afford it seems to stand the engine's in good stead. After all we can buy the oil and filter for £20. I would recommend anyone the same.. Buy the best you can afford,it makes sense in the long run..
Marky...2004 GSi3.2
How do you get longlife oil for £15, that is well cheap.
longlife oil = GM certified, I saw Mobil 1 in costco for about £23

If we buy 205lt ( a barrel) at a time it comes down to £2.25 a litre.
£15.00 is the current T/C price for 5 ltrs.
