    Default ISP Recommendations

    Hey All,

Soon to be moving and on the hunt for a new ISP. Been with Sky on their LLU for the past few years and cant fault them in the slightest.

New exchange does not have LLU, so Sky is not an option. Real shame as their "unlimited" was truely unlimited. I think its going to be hard to find something as good.

So, i am after a reliable ISP who offer a good deal and dont throttle things like P2P connections and access to newsgroups.

    Any recommendations?

Stay well clear of talktalk, I'm with them and although the service is pretty fast for the area, which is still very slow, the routers are ridiculously rubbish. I often have to reset it, almost every day, sometimes twice a day to maintain connectivity.

Absolulety useless. They took over my current provider (Pipex, who were taken over by Tiscalli). When Pipex was taken over by Tiscalli, there wasn't much difference.
However when TT took over Tiscalli my monthly price doubled until I complained. They 'brought' it down to a more reasonable charge, along with 3 months free. I say 'brought', but they still charged me the full double price, and didn't honour the 3 months free. I've had to phone them several times to try and get it resolved. I've been promised another 3 months free for the hassle, and credit adding to my account to offset the overcharging. Time will tell whether they actually get it right this time.

i am on the 100mb , and not having any issues, it may aslo be your hub ?

Have you amended any settings in there , and is your network card capableof the speeds, i was caught out with this and had to upgrade to the gigabyte card

I would have VM cable,tv,phone in a heartbeat! Shame i am out of the area. After much searching found an ISP called Freeola who do a good deal. Just bought me a nice 12Tb NAS which has the ability to throttle downloads during specified times (8am - 7pm Mon-Fri) so i dont go over the monthly peak rate allowance.
