Default Disappointing trip to get a remap on 1.9. 120

Hello all. I have just returned from Celtic Tuning where I had hoped to get a remap to 183 bhp. I watched the first run on the rolling road and it read a healthy 134.5 bhp. The new software was then fed in and a test run on the rolling road showed that we had a major problem. It read 180.9 bhp at 2200 rpm but at 3000 rpm the engine limped back to tick over. They tried several times to no avail. They stated that it might be an error and they didn't have any tech 2 readers at the premises. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this issue? I have no warning lights on at all and once the original map was reloaded the car drove home with no issues. I was really looking forward to this remap and so I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Is the car standard? A 180+ BHP map on a ctandard CDTI120 is way too high.. Thats what a CDTI150 would be looking at remapped.

above you said: "It read 180.9 bhp at 2200 rpm" - im not supprised it then went into limp mode.. 180BHP at 2200rpm? That cant be right - as a BHP line shoudl increase with revs and therefore when you are at 4 - 5k rpm your BHP would have been way out.

Sounds like a very poor tuner to me.

I'm with Antssssssssss on this one - think about it, a 50% increase in BHP (120 to 180) with just a remap and no new hardware? Doesn't sound feasible.

Celtic Tuning is one of the top tuners in the country. http://www.celtictuning.co.uk/
Thats my point something went wrong that they have never seen before and they tune a lot of these engines every year. Does anyone have any idea what could cause these results?

Understand mate - but to expect 180BHP from a standard 120 car isnt correct.

Have a look at their site http://www.celtictuning.co.uk/
These figures are what they quote for a 120.
The 150 is quoted to 212 bhp.

Fairplay then mate - and happy to stand corrected

Supprised then that they cant have the diag equipment to read what went wrong.

My thoughts exactly. They say that the 120 is a restricted 150 so they gain 30 bhp by removing these shackles then give the turbo a 0.1 bar boost for the other 30. I will have to go to a garage and see if there is a fault on the ecu.

Im going to be honest mate and if they are telling you that then they are completely wrong.

the 120 is an 8 valve single cam engine and the 150 is a 16v twin cam engine.. COmpletely different.

That would make me not want to go there I have to say.
