It has a hairline crack in it and its spraying fuel all down the back of my engine.Noticed smoke coming from the car while driving on Saturday.I found the leak myself and called the AA.The guy who came out bypassed the filter to get me going again. He said he has never seen that happen before.

Hi Lee is it the bottom half that is split - reason I ask is that I have one in the garage - only thing with it is on the back are two pieces that slot into the metal crash box and one of them has the ends broken off which is quite common but doesn't affect the housing itself. I changed mine because the top fuel pipe fitting had broken. The reason yours has split is people put them in a vice to hold them while they unscrew the top, overtighten them and they crack. You can have the bottom half for the postage if you want it - I can send you a photo of the damaged bracket if it helps.

Thanks Al,that is very good of you.Yes it's the bottom that's split, looks like it is just under the inlet pipe fitting. Thanks for the insight into how it happened. It's a shame people don't realise that replacement of a part damaged by their bodge it and scarper methods,is usually more costly than buying the correct tool in the first place.A photo would be good,my email is biglee36@hotmail.com How much do you think postage would be?

A couple of pictures 1 showing the damage to the rear bracket - it doesn't affect the unit - it was working fine on my car but the fuel line fitting on the lid had broken and the line wouldn't clip in properly - and its easier to get it in and out of the cage - no problem if don't want it. I'm not sure about postage its not very heavy - depends how quick you want it - normal post probably 2-3 quid.
