Lots of Vecs have knocking in the suspension that people manage to sort out, but it's very rare for anyone to replace those arms, so they're probably not the cause. You need to be methodical, otherwise you could spend a lot of money and still have the noise. Track rod ends, for example, do wear out and they can affect the handling, but don't usually cause any noise.

Is the noise from the front? Does it happen at random times when just driving along a straight road? Or when going over bumps? Or when turning the steering at slow speeds? Each of these symptoms has a different cause.

its only over the bumps......like a metallic knocking at the front end.

ive replace the struts with sachs supertourings all round, eibach springs, ordered the heavy duty drop links and i have the SNR strut top bearings.

i was replacing everything to see if the noise would go..............but if your saying the wishbones dont usually go, then what else cud it be?

the ball joint? bushes on wishbone? track rod ends? arbs?

What about the radiator mounts, if it's when you go over bumps?

problem is.............ive checked out which arbs are on the front of mine - 24.2mm and smooth, no raised bits - but checked with seller on ebay and they came back to me and told me that mines are the 24.2mm but have raised bits on the arbs.

Don't pay any attention to whether your ARB bushes have raised bits or not - as long as you are certain what size your ARB is, either from accurately measuring it or by looking at the part number on the side of the existing bush, then buy some bushes of that size, regardless of the raised bits.
