Default Would any of them fail MOT??

    Hi Fellows,

MOT is due early next week, I was wondering if someone can help please.

Had car checked with Vauxhall Garage and came with the following needs addressing.

    1. Play in inner steering arm n/s/f
    2. Both front top mounts poor condition and niosy when steering
    3. After Cat Lambda Sensor (light on dashboard), garage advised that cleaning may help for another six months

Garage advised that parts I would be approx £200 plus labour. they recommend to change the following.

    Support Bearing (2)
    Boot kit
    tie rod

As I am novice, so any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Signum04

Yes, all three will/could fail the MOT, good news is they are all relatively easy to replace if you know what you're doing and have the tools.

    £200 for those parts !!!!

Bearings are 21.00 each at Eurocarparts parts
    Boot will be approx £10
Inner tie rod are about £30

Mine had an advisory for that on previous MoT
Before the test begins I asked the tester to show me all the issues at the end, rather each one during the test; afterwards he showed me this advisory, his opinion of play was worn to me!
He also commented that the O/S/F was showing early signs of play as well, and I agreed with that

He has also commented previously about noises from the front suspension, but wasn't sure where they were coming from
He repeated this in the last MoT, then confirmed, "Aye we've been through this before, but I see it quite on lot on the larger engine Vectra C"

I had them replaced the following week and the steering was much improved
The two front tyres were also replaced, so a full four wheel alignment check was carried out afterwards, but no adjustment was required (an adjutsment was required but we agreed it was so small it wasn't worth performing)

    Hi Guys

I wonder if someone in the High Wycombe Area or Herts area could help my friend out (signum04) with fitting the parts if he buys them.

There is another job to do and thats replace the rear pads and discs which he already has (292mm)

Obviously we would cross your palms with something previsouly agreed by PM. He is not looking for a freebie.

We could also travel to you if your not too far away say around 50 miles (one way)

We would really appreciate any offers of help.

    Many thanks
