Default VVTi 1.8 Sri basic spec - again

Had one of these as a hire car today and (in line with other comments posted) was surprised how many toys were not standard.

The car had GPS fitted but I did not think it was a patch on my Tom Tom Nav 5 (although the stationary traffic info was good – is this free for ever or do you eventually need to pay (it is an additional subscription feature on Nav 5). Was quite surprised that I could not search by postcode.

No traction control seems really mean (even on my 96 vec B Sri it was standard)

No rain sensing wipers – or they worked really cr@p (did not see the usual sensor)

I’m not sure but it even seemed that the beeping warning (and dash warning) to say someone was in the drivers seat without the seatbelt on was missing.

Are things really that bad at Vaux that they need to penny pinch on what should be classed a sporty higher spec car. Was impressed with the 1.8 engine if you worked it hard, fuel consumption was also good (compared to a 2.2 I had a few month back).

the rain sensors no longer an option on on sri models, traction control part of the esp option,it was never standard on 1.8 models nor was it an option on early 1.8 vectra b,the seat belt beep i think can be switched on or off, there is 2 models of sri ,standard or navi and as to post code use i dont think it was possible and to updates you have to pay about £120 for a new disc which is about what tom tom charge for updates

Seems a bit poor for an SRi spec car extras-extras-extras, defo easier to make a higher spec car into a SRi rather than the other way about.

When you say updates, is it only a basic package you get and you have to pay for an upgrade (or does a new car come with the most up-to-date version).
