    Default Wiper Heaven

Someone here suggested that if I didn't like the auto-wiper function (which I don't, as it's completely rubbish at selecting the appropriate speed) I could disable it by disconnecting the rain sensor. I gave it a go yesterday, and tested it in the rain this lunchtime, and what do you know - I have properly functioning, manually variable, intermittent wiper speeds. Heaven. (I know I've lost the facility for open windows, when parked, to be closed automatically if it rains, but I don't like leaving the windows open on an unattended car anyway).

I actually really like the automatic wipers on mine although admittedly sometimes they're not perfect and there does seem to be a delay in them reacting to change. Usually if it chucks it down hard they will go mental and then if the rain stops they keep going for another 10 or so swipes before realising it's stopped and stopping themselves. That said however having a lorry going past in the rain and suddenly not being able to see for the wipers to suddenly and automatically clear the screen is an amazingly useful function.

Useful to know for the future though that I can disable it that easiy if I do ever get fed up with it or they break etc
