Default Z30DT - Engine Light Illuminated, Car with the spanner through it?

Whilst out driving this afternoon i had this light on the dash illuminate, it's the car outline with the spanner through the middle of it... Now i've had a quick flick through the owners manual and it says contact garage sort of thing.

I pulled over when it came on, i didn't want to turn it off just in case it wouldn't start again, so i ended up plodding home (5 mins) it stayed on until i got it home. There was a significant lack of power, it could move and get up to 60 no problems but it was obviously down on power.

Whilst stationary with my foot off the brake pedal, engine speed was consistent at around 950rpm. However when i pressed the brake pedal the engine speed went down to around 750rpm and stayed there for the duration the brake pedal was applied, hasn't done this before so can only be down to the light on the dash being on...

Got home and turned the car off, waited a minute or two and then turned it back on and the light has gone out with the rest of them.

    So any ideas folks?

This is the engine management light
The usual solution is to stop, switch off the engine and restart
If the light is still on, then switch off and wait about 5 minutes before restarting

If the car is under warranty, then contact your local dealership and report the issue, advise them you will bring the car straight to them next time so they can diagnose it while it is still live

If the issue does not return until later, then at least you have the issue logged at the dealership, in case it occurs at a later date

Very unlikely, however at least you got the warning light
Many people with the Y30DT get safe mode with no warning

My car has been in a few times after the warning light has come on "Sorry, there are no current codes, but there are stored codes and nothing relevant so we have cleared them"

Not necassarily. Had it happen to mine a couple of times over a year ago. Had it to the stealers and no codes were found. After switching off and restarting it sometimes clears the codes.

There is a jet system that uses the same name, does that apply?
I really don't fancy hooking one of them up to my car...

I had this happen on my car just after I bought it, turned out to be the EGR. Another time I had this it was because the engine management system was trying to do a Small Quantative Learning.
Both didn't leave codes to start with.
