Default Car starting on ez-start then on its own and white smoke.

    Bit of history first,
My car has just had new timing chains fitted (2.2DTi) and timed up correctly with timing tools. Leak off pipes were changed. Headgasket was changed whilst doing the chains also. Fuel system was primed prior to starting but nothing was happening.
This morning i found a couple of wires that had been bodged together that come out the back of the fuel pump. Sorted that out and found the car now does run but only with ez-start to get it going and its a little lumpy with white smoke. As soon as you let off the pedal to bring it to idle, it just dies.
    Any ideas people?
Really dont want to sell the car but im at my wits end with it already and i have only had it a month.
    Thanks in advance.

not sure wether this is true but i heard before that using easystart in dti's can make the piston kiss the valves might be worth checking if true or not before you keep using easy start plus engine gets addicted to the stuff brake cleaner in a squirty bottle is better

You mean the wires that run from the ECU on top of the pump into the pump itself?

I would have thought that these would only need to cut if the ECU had been separated from the pump - and that opens up a whole .

I have stopped using ez-start now. I re-checked the timing and its definatly spot on.
There are 4 wires that run at the back of the pump into a connector that sits between the outlets. these have at some point in there life been cut and reconnected (there solder joints, all be it not very good soldering!) I can see where your coming from, but my argument is, it was working fine before before i changed the timing chains. Hopefully it is just the fueling system being a right mare to bleed.
