    Default Vibration on the steering

    hi

wonder if any one can help me. i have recently bought a Vauxhall Vectra SRI 1.8 16V on a 06 plate

i have a problem were when i get to 70mph to 80 mph the steering wheel will start to shake this dosent happen all the time though and as normal vauxhall garages are useless!

i have got it balanced by a number of places and it is still the same really

has any one got any ideas for me so i can go back to the garages and blow there heads off lol

get all FOUR wheels balanced..and get them to balance them on 'fine' settings..

Vectra's are well known for being hard to balance right..and most quick-fit centres can't get it right..

As you're over his part of the world perhaps Caterman can suggest somewhere local??

    2. they swopped the wheels
    3. balanced the front wheels and now its fixed.

    judas

when you said they swapped the wheel was that new wheels and tyres?

    mark

that is what i have had done today it does seem better but i still dont think it is right when i spoke to the vauxhall dealer today they admitted that they arent the best to get right.

also i dont know if it is just me but i find the steering really light in it too compaired to my 05 plated astra sporthatch

if it's too light you may find it helps dropping the pressure by a couple of PSi..say 2 or 3... that will help with the weighting of the steering..

the astra and vectra will have different racks, so different steering rates... But even Mrs GSi's steering is lighter than my GSi..both V6's..

Im mean that they put the back wheels on to the front and visa versa.

The guy seemed shocked when it went back for the 3rd time.

at least they are doing something constructive about it thou..

and remember.. nothing is as indestructable as a courtesy car... use it as a skip..jump ramps...it's a little bit of 'payback'..
