    Default Turbo blown?

Mods I have posted this in tech section but only got 1 view! Please delete if breaking the rules

Yesterday I was driving and the car suddenly lost power and I thought I had gone into limp mode. I looked at dash and no warning lights but I then noticed white smoke pouring from the back of the car.

I limped the car home gave it a couple of revs and then noticed a metre long spray of oil from both exhausts.

I'm guessing the turbo seals/bearing have gone.

Can anyone with any info let me know? I'm about to go work away, got no car so can't be fixed for 10 days or so but I could get a new turbo. I believe they are the Garrett T18? Anyone recommend a turbo refurber or more of an exchange place?

    The car is 2003 2.2dti 109k

    Thanks

Aright lee, might be worth having it refurbed. IIRC Turbo technics charged me £300 ish to have mine done on my old Siggy

My other car. 1972 1641cc slammed beetle. On the road finally!!

I have used Turbo Rebuild in Blackpool, they are also on ebay.

Also have a look here, so you can decide if its a garage or DIY job.

I did checkout those How 2's before taking it to the garage ;-)

I must have used a litre of oil taking it to the garage 3 minutes down the road! Its is 100% turbo failed.

I have spoken to a couple of turbo rebuilders and I'm toying with the idea of buying brand new as I now intend on keeping the car for at least another two years. Then buying the parts and refurbing the turbo myself and testing it and selling that.

My main thing at the mo is the time constraints I hate taking it to a garage but I need the car next weekend and I'm away all week so no choice!

He mate, that seems to be the standard price. Thinking of doing the refurb myself though now
