Default Few simple queries about my DTi

first and biggest, does my 2003 2.0 DTi have a dual mass flywheel? and if so is failure common?

also what else are these cars known to give engine/ transmission trouble with? i heard master cylinders were a common problem? i dont want to get hit with any major bills (130k miles on mine)

basically i used to have an 80 mile a day commute with 75 of those mileson the motorway so as you can asume the vectra was in its element. but now circumstance has changed and it will become a town car, very low mileage, possibly under 200 miles a week. just wondering really will this suit the DTi or should i change to a smaller car, trying to weigh up my options.

    thanks all

I predominately use my 1.9 diesel on motorway journeys and make sure I clear out the cobwebs once a week or fortnight by driving at 70 mph in 3rd or 4th gear for a couple of minutes (engine fully up to temp). When I do drive round towns on the odd occassion, I do seem to notice it becomes a bit less responsive. Whether this is just in my head, I do not know but I do think a good thrash down a motorway helps the diesel tick better in my experience. Maybe keep the diesel but just make a point on a motorway journey every couple of weeks or on an open road where you can blow them cobwebs away.

As far as the other points you raise, I have no input sorry.

As above really mate they tend to coak up if not used fully , so you expect problems with egr,s and boost sensor as these become cloged with coak but a good clean every 6 months should keep most faults at bay .

Biggest problems on a DTi are failure of the Derv. pump, and loads of vacuum problems.
Usually with the thin hoses wrapped around the engine bay, hard to find leaks but usually are the problem. Smoke test is the best route.
Megga expensive to replace or fix the pumps though.Lots get scrapped for that !
Just keep your fingers crossed !
They arnt getaway cars mind,OK on the motorway, but very flat around town.
Quite a few other makes use the same pump,so its not just us !
Don't ever run out of fuel in a DTi they are pigs to restart and you can ruin a pump this way.
    But Hey !
    Good Luck.

My 2.2 DTI has been fine mate. I replaced all of my vacuum pipes with silicone ones from the bay of e. just as a precaution. Only costs a couple of quid. This thread sounds a bit like a dooms day book. I'm running with 140 BHP with a couple of simple mods @ 135 ish k on the clock. A lot of people talk about the fuel pump, but I have never known anyone who has had one fail. Maybe someone who has had one fail could post up and give their experience.
