Default Fault code: 0597 - thermostat urgent help needed please

    Hi guys.

My father-in-law's 06' 1.8vvti has just thrown up this fault code 0597 - coolant thermostat valve circuit low voltage.

Need to get some info ASAP. Anyone know what exactly on the thermostat it will be? Could it be a fuse?

He had the thermostat and water pump changed in January....

Any one got any quick advice?

    Cheers

I would go back to the place that did the work and ask them to sort it out.

take the car out for a drive and then run the engine up to operating temperature, not sure what that is for your but probably about 86c. Pull over and leave the engine running and see what the temp gauge does and whether the fan kicks in about 93c.

I do think just have a failed thermostat though, not expensive but also delicate bits of kit that are known to fail for no reason.. The garage used probably just fitted a cheapo one and chnaged a lot.

The VVt has a ECU controlled valve incorporated in the thermostat housing which is why they are more expensive on thus model. It may be loose connection
