Unhappy Vectra 1.9 SRI 2006 power problems

Hi guys, can someone advise, my 2006 Vectra SRI 150 CDTI (65,000) is very sluggish at starting, even with the pedal to the floor the engine crawls up to 2000 revs then it seems the Turbo kicks in and the car performs ok. However when the car slows it struggles to power up again, that causes problems at junctions etc. the EGR valve has been cleaned. The local garage has checked the glow plugs as i reported blue smoke emitting at startup. The garage stated it could be my flywheel as these are problems with common rail diesels??
It really is becoming a tainted car that i really love. Any advice please??

could you check what colour no.3 injector plug is first, it should be blue. If not it will be yellow which means it needs upgrading

When you say the EGR waqs cleaned, do you know whether it was just the gas flow chamber of the valve which was cleaned or was that cleaned as well as the solenoid part of the valve dismantled and all cleaned up. If the soleniod aspect was not done, then it could be a sticking soleniod which is causing problems.

The reason I ask is that my car would struggle, if I revved the car up to 3k revs, it would suddenly drive ok until I next lifted the foot off the gas and then it limped again. It was a sticky EGR soleniod.

Yeah sounds just like mine, but it doesn't do that all the time which is frustrating... yesterday it limped home with no power, seems like the turbo gave up. Then again today whilst taking it to the garage it performed fine.. time will tell

Yes when the car goes into limp mode, it is a very basic ECU map which takes control. This is supposed to be an engine preservation measure. The turbo is one item which is disabled. Personally, I think it is down right dangerous. I was almost a gonner when my car decided to go into limp mode driving onto a very busy and fast moving roundabout in Edinburgh (no prior warning of this impending). The driver approaching me for a fast side swipe had to take drastic evasive action to avoid smashng head on into my drivers door. I would much rather be in control when a warning light illuminates than some machine trying to second guess the danger to life.
