Default Child ran into side of my car!

    Was passing a school
Pedestrian crossing with no school patrol visible (which is mandatory in Scotland, during school days)
Lights on green and traffic ahead passing through

Child runs straight out, BANG, into the nearside side of my company car (around the B pillar), so on with the anchors
Parent comes across "Why you driving into my child?!?"
Child left screaming on the pavement...

Even the motorist behind me was aghast, "Look the lights were green; roads are for cars, pavements are for pedestrians, let's get moving"

I then went into the school, reported the parent for being a numpty and having more concern for me, rather than their child screaming after causing an accident of their own fault
"What, there was no school patrol present?"

And nobody seemed all that bothered about the child that had caused all this...

Like I mentioned on another thread,.. to have kids you should have to have a license and be insured, same as cat owners!! (sick of t-cutting cat claw marks out of my paintwork,.. not to mention removing sheet from my garden on a daily basis) Problem is, the fault always seems to lie with the driver these days.

Sickening. I had to hold my mums hand till i was about 12 whilst walking to school. I make my daughter do the same. Kids don't have any concept of danger or common sense then they're young..... SOME drivers don't either.

Incidentally, I now have to hold my mums hand when crossing the road but thats now for her benefit. More importantly how's the car

Some parents honestly believe that little Johnny can't do any wrong.

There is no point reasoning with this type of parent.

you may want to notify the cops in case somebody decides to take this further, especially where a person was possibly injured. I hope you got the details of the witness driver as well as these things can go all weird once people have had time to plot and scheme..
My old Signum, the animal; she now rests in pieces in several other members cars.. https://www.vectra-c.com/forum/garag...vehicle&id=200

No marks and no damage, the child simply bounced off (glancing blow)

I'm an old hand at this, I've driven over a child before, so this was nothing in comparison
Yes, I have the details of the driver and vehicle behind
Yes, the matter was reported to both the School and the local constabulary office
I will also be following this up, as explained above, as it was an operating crossing near to a school it should have had a crossing patrol, and if absent a Police officer instead

Equally, the Police took lots of details as they had not been made aware of the lack of a crossing operative at this location (which it really needs)

Furthermore, I asked the child directly if they were injured, the parent didn't seem interested, simply grabbing the child, lifting it to it's feet, and dragging it across the road (again whilst traffic was flowing normally)
Whilst at the school this same child was brought in by another teacher and some choice words were used by this teacher (along the lines of irresponsible parent)
Before leaving I confirmed this child had no injuries and no medical attention was required

"Go ahead, make my day", is what I would say to them
Been there, and would just lodge a counter claim when the court throws their case out
I'm quite sure our vehicles division could confirm the nearside of the vehicle was damaged...
Plus the additional costs of phone calls, loss of earnings, and of course having to attend the court at least three times in the first instance

My girlfriend was sat in her car stationary ready to leave a multistory car park, when an off duty fireman rode his bike down the pavement, lost control, hit her car rolling across the bonnet.

Caused **** loads of damage, bent panels, scratched paint etc etc.

Insurance company wouldnt persue the Fireman, said no point. She lost her 2 years no claims bonus and was told to wait for the Fireman to lodge a claim against her !! - which he didn't.

But nevertheless she still lost her no claims. Now thats not fair !!
