    Default Z22YH - swirl valves

2004 direct estate with 70,000 mls on the clock

Can you observe whilst the engine is running the operation of the swirl valves?

About 4,000 miles ago I had error code "P1112 - Swirl Flap Stuck" and at last I am ready to carry out the field remedy and replace them with the modified type.

However for these last 4,000 miles I have been running on Shell V-power believing (rightly or wrongly) that it might clean them out and indeed the error has now gone.

But I wonder if it actually ok now or somehow broken in such a way that it is not recording a fault.

So the question is can I check the operation of the swirl valves without taking thing apart?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Cannot say for your particular engine but if the operation is the same as the 1.9 diesel then there are numerous related posts on this forum i.e. when engine is off, the swirl valves are open at the 10 o'clock position. When at idle, they are closed at approx the 2 o'clock position. May or may not be of any help. Sorry.

    Thanks Willie.
Yes, I spent ages going through all the (unfortunately) diesel posts before posting.
