Default Removal of dash warning lights?

I have an engine warning light up on the dash, its from the blanked off EGR valve, show a low circ error when read.

For the MOT I was looking at having the bulb either removed or turned off, or remove the blanking plate.

Anyone had the dash out and disabled the warning lamps?

All dashboard lights are LEDs soldered to the dash, they are not bulbs.

You can just put a bit of tape over the LED when you take the dials out which is really easy to do. This is going to happen all the time now that a warning light is going to fail the MOT and was a completly pointless addition as its so easy to get round. It would have been better if the MOT station had to plug in a code reader......

Except that MOT testers are supposed to check the light functions when they first put the ignition on before continuing with the test (they come on with the dash self test when you turn the ignition on) so they'll see it's not working and can potentially fail it on that.

forget your all you've read about taking out the dials and using tape

just let your car go low on juice- when the fuel warning light is active it overrides the EML car/spanner warning light

Even after I filled up last time it took 2 stops and starts for the Car/spanner light to come back on after it had been knocked out by the low fuel warning light- even though the fuel warning light went out straight safter i gave it a drink
