    Default RAD pack removal

    Chaps,

Going to do the Turbo on my CDTI150 within the next few weeks.

Best way I am told - which makes complete sense, is to remove the RAD pack (so all three rads).

Now - can you 'move' them out of the way without having to completely disconnect them.. Specifically thinking about the AC Rad etc as I dont want to have to dump the gas unless I have too...

Been described (and apologies I cant remember who) that you can remove the bumper, and then undo the impact bar and the rads are attached to that and you can hinge them round out of the way on that? Anymore details on that? When we say impact bar - thats not the slam pannel is it - its the bar behind the bumper.

Happy to drop the coolent etc - its the AC I dont want to disturb really.

    thanks in advance

    Ant

I don't know how much play their is on air con pipes so someone maybe able to confirm how much movement you'll have.

Just wanted to say you'd have to get a garage/ mobile aircon specialist to extract the aircon gas for you.

As its against the law aswel as hazardous to your health to dump it to atmosphere.

Sorry to offend if you already new that

Yh I know mate - and have a friend in the local autoparts store who will extract and then re-fill but thats still going to cost me ££ and if I dont have to do that I wont..

Would be great if I can move the rad pack and hinge round on the impact bar.

Guessing that the Radpack is bolted to the impact bar and they are all three connected together??

    Cheers chaps

Don't worry, you won't need to split the a/c system there is enough movement in the pipes. The 2 rads and intercooler kind of clip together with metal hooks and you may have to bend the hooks slightly to get the intercooler out or to fix it back in but it's really not a bad job to do.

    Brilliant - thanks..

So do they attach to the impact bar, and can I hinge that round?

Will I need to remove the Intercooler and coolent RAD from the 'Rad Pack' - or an they stay all together just moved (happy to undo the coolent piped etc..

    Cheers

They all move quite a bit but the intercooler can come out on it's own. I can't remember if i drained coolant or not.

...and you won't need to remove the impact bar at all. It won't be in the way, I think the intercooler slides down once disconnected and you remove from underneath. Best to use ramps or get it high up on axle stands.
