Default Need help with my Mums Corsa please

    Hi all

My mum in her seventies now needs some expert help and I told her I know just the forum who can help. Yes im laying on thick arn't I.

Basicly last year september time she has lots of water pooling in the drivers side footwell.

Car is a 1.2 2001 Corsa two door.

She took it to garage who found the fault to be water coming through the seals around the brake servo. They charge here 342 quid to remove and refit and seal the brake servo.

Today I looked at it and water is pooling in the driver side footwell again.

Passenger side is completely dry and the rear drivers ise is dry too.

I checked both drain holes in the engine bay and they are clear.

I pulled back the carpet to find that right at the top of the footwell is slightly damp and gets worse the further back from the bulk head I go.

Im now pushing the carpet down on the drivers side and water is pooling up quite bad.

The sealant used around the servo seems to be very thin. Im no mechanic but this doesn't look like it can protect to much.

Is there anything else I should look for?

I must admit I can't see any other signs of water coming in from the front apart from what I have decribed above.

My next job is to go down to the garage with my mums car and ask them about it.

What do you thinks lads and ladies. Have I missed anything ?

    Thanks in advance

What's the heating like? And the coolant level? - If the coolant level is low then refill it - run the car & check for water.

My mrs's had the same symptoms but no where near as bad - would leak overnight when the car was turned off - turned out to be the heater matrix was weeping/cracked.

Not too hard to remove - remove the triangular side trim on the driver's side under the centre console, then the cover to the housing & the two circular clips & slide the matrix out.

Then stick a hose pipe in one end & check for any leaks.

Check the windscreen as well, as i once had a motor into the garage seven times with a leak problem, i got so mad, i dropped the dashboard myself and found it was leaking from the windscreen. (It never had a replacement windscreen either)

Not saying its the problem you got, but they must of put a couple of tubes of mastic around the engine compartment.

    Maybe worth a good look
