Default Has anyone changed the maf on the z19dth?

To cure the flat spot/hesitation or any other power issues, ive got the z19dth in my saab and im at the point where its either a new inlet manifold or new maf to try and cure my flat spot/hesitation , ive got no eml to suggest anything and gona start saving but dont want to buy the one if its the other if you know what i mean, there doesnt seem to be alot of mention on here of people renewing maf's , so just looking for a bit of feed back off ppl who have been in the same situation. Cheers guys

Have you done the usual check for swirl flap operation and cleaning of the egr as they tend to cause flat spots.

After having to refit the swirl bar back on before and after reading tony1977 thred i decided to take it off and bond 1,2 and 4 in the open poss but no real diff , ive cleaned egr the proper way and even tried blanking but again no real diff, ive also renewed boost controller, map , fuel and air filter, just done thermostat , cleaned maf , renewd all vac pipes, tested vac pump, cleaned throttle body and soldered joints even though they looked ok ,i do ideally need a new inlet manifold but im not 100% convinced its that causing it so im only left with renewing maf mabe

The biggest difference in smoothness has been by changing the thermostat, its odd though because if i accelerate using part throttle it seems alot better but if i try to accelerat using half throttle or more thats where i get the flat spot/hesitation and seems to be holding back some power all the way through the revs could that be a sign of the maf not doing its job correctly? I dont know what else would cause it

UPDATE: soaked my maf in isopropynol overnight and dried it out on a radiator in the house until it was completely dry and refitted and there is a difinate improvement not massive but defo better and smoother on pickup, where it felt a bit dead on half throttle or more thats where i feel the difference after cleaning it, shall be saving and getting a new 1 in due course
