Default Little trip to Merikiito's + scary pics!!!

Well today saw me going to see Lee (Merikiito) to finally get my cim ident number so i can get one that works, and to have a look at why my heater has stopped working.

We started off looking at the heater problem hoping it was a blown fuse and an easy fix, but no such luck no fuse had blown, so bonnet up and checked pollen filter and cleared the drain which was blocked up with leaves and dirt but not much, so quick check on the how 2's and next step was to remove glove box and check resitor on the heater motor again hoping it had gone and a replacment could be ordered. But........... because i have climate control the unit is a bigger unit so took a few minutes to find it, once we did we check around and noticed the bottom of the glove box had been melted??!!!! We took the unit out and... well ill let the pics do the talking!!!

This shocked us both and Lee thinks it must of caught fire at some point, to say i was freaked out was an understatment lol. With all the water we have had over the last few weeks it must have overflowed the drain in the scuttle and drenched the motor and caused an electrical fire? So everyone please check your pollen filter and drain lol!!!!!!!!

Big thanks to Lee, (and Dorreen) for all your help today much appriciated.

So im in need of a cim unit ident code XR and a heater resitor pack if anyone can help me out please pm me .

Gunna sell the Gsi now and join the 1.9cdti gang lol.

    very lucky mate

the climate control is very expensive than the normally resistor pack

VX costs prior to me finding the fault... the motor is around £250 + vat & the regulator is around the same,

which is why i also warned people on my poll

my issue on the cim side of things is, ir started with a warning light came up, which on op-com came up as steering wheel angle sensor had gone, indicators, wipers are a bit erratic and traction control and cruise control dont work.

I thought Dan had been using TCP as the car stank of it. In fact the TCP smell was the burning plastic
