its chrome plated, i used 80 grit paper on a da then down to 320 and then 600 wet and dry.

you go through chrome plating and a copper colored plating takes a couple of hours to get it done

I tried it, it is hard, so gave up lol. Primed and painted over the chrome. And still the paint is removable if you want to revert back to the chrome surface.

It doesn't need loads of keying, just a light rough surface.... a chisel sounds a bit extreme mate...you risk putting deep marks in the surface.

I'd stick to sandpaper/wet and dry, with a bit of work it'll be fine. Though TBH I didn't bother keying mine, and it's been fine for about 8 weeks now. I keep checking it every so often, but if it was going to go it would have happened by now I think. Mind you it had 6 coats!

so far so good Matt,Chisels got some light scratches in the surface, basically just rubbing the chrome with it,the file on my trusty Victorinox swisstool is keying it nicely! I give it some welly with the sandpaper in a bit, cheers
